About this event
In 2020, six state-based Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) c4 organizations united to form the Asian American Power Network (AAPN); their aim was to create strong, well-resourced c4 infrastructure to help build an America where AAPI communities have equal power and access. Asian Americans are the US’ fastest-growing demographic yet they are the least represented in our government. In this funder briefing, four of the organizations that make up AAPN join us to share how they are:
- Building progressive political power for the AAPI community through greater representation and beyond
- Winning meaningful changes for their local communities
- Filling holes in c4 infrastructure
Brenda Choresi Carter, Director of the Reflective Democracy Campaign, and Senator Stephanie Chang, the first Asian American woman to be elected to the Michigan Legislature, will also join to share their insights into the political systems that are keeping Asian American candidates out and how to build AAPI power.
Walk away with an understanding of what this moment means for the AAPI community and how the Asian American Power Network is changing the playing field.
