Job Description

The Institutional Giving Manager is part of a dynamic development department charged with raising funds to support Tipping Point’s vision for impact. The Institutional Giving Manager assists with strategic leadership and takes tactical ownership over all corporate and foundation funding sources. They are responsible for managing the corporate and foundation donor portfolio and writing high-quality and compelling correspondence, proposals, and grant reports for all institutional funders. The Institutional Giving Manager is a strategic thinker with exceptional writing and relationship management skills, strong project management experience, attention to detail and the capacity to translate program initiatives and impact into targeted and compelling funding requests. They serve as an ambassador of Tipping Point, representing the organization to donors, partners, grantees, and others.

This position reports to the Development Director.

DONOR + GRANTS MANAGEMENT

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with all corporate and foundation donors; engage and solicit donors on an annual basis through meetings, events, campaigns and other outreach.
  • Supports Development Director, Chief Development Officer and other development and executive team members to develop and maintain relationships with corporate and institutional donors; collaborate with Individual Giving team on shared relationships.
  • Works with senior development and program staff to develop persuasive proposal strategies, narratives, and language for new programs and initiatives.
  • Writes foundation and corporate LOIs, grant proposals and reports, within all specified timelines; tracks grant deliverables, organizes program team input on reports and proposals, and creates budgets in coordination with program and finance staff.
  • Manages timeline of annual solicitations, ensuring that asks are made in a timely fashion to secure funding yearly.
  • Initiates and arranges site visits, funder briefings, presentations, and other donor education opportunities for corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
  • Conduct research, pursue leads and pitch new institutional funders. Help grow the existing portfolio of funders.
  • Creates, solicits and implements corporate sponsorship plans for all relevant Tipping Point events. Partners with the External Affairs team to create needed materials.
  • Partners with the External Affairs team to coordinate social media and other communications relevant to corporate partners.
  • Partners with Senior Development Associate and Development Assistant to ensure that all institutional gifts and activities are properly entered in Salesforce.

All other duties as assigned.

Salary + Classification

Tipping Point is committed to paying competitive wages. In an effort to increase equity, because we know that salary negotiations tend to have an unfair bias, we do not participate in a salary negotiation process for any candidate. We will make our best offer, and it will be the same regardless of the candidate. The annual starting salary for the Institutional Giving Manager role is $115,500. This position meets the exemption requirements as defined by state and federal law. Exempt employees are paid on a salaried basis, and their salary is intended to constitute their entire regular compensation, regardless of the number of hours they work; therefore, exempt employees are not eligible for overtime pay.

Hybrid Work Environment

Tipping Point is committed to the safety of our staff and to facilitating connection and community with one another. While we were remote for almost two years, we are a highly in-person culture and have moved into a hybrid work environment. While managers have some discretion over the schedule, teams are generally expected to be in person Tuesday-Thursdays. All other days staff may choose to work in the office or remotely. Please note that in a constantly changing environment, Tipping Point may adjust this arrangement as it sees the need to.

What qualifications are we looking for?

Additionally, the Institutional Giving Manager must have:

  • Relevant fundraising experience, with a proven ability to secure five and six-figure gifts from foundation and corporate donors.
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to efficiently create funding narratives in a fast-paced environment; ability to synthesize complex activities and data into coherent and compelling narratives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignment when faced with many deadlines and competing requirements.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Outstanding partnership development, customer service, and relationship management skills.
  • Results-orientation and ability to tackle complex problems through entrepreneurial approach and creative problem-solving.
  • Track record of being able to work effectively across different groups of people, and an ability to act as a strong team player.
  • Commitment to Tipping Point’s mission and values and ability to operate with the highest degree of integrity in representing the organization.
