Compassion Driving Action in
Youth Mental Health

StarVista's, Early Childhood and Family Services Department Director, Narges Zohoury Dillon, LMFT, stresses the importance of addressing Youth Mental Health as a community.

By: Narges Dillon

This past March, StarVista's Starting Line Breakfast featured a panel discussion on youth mental health that touched on current trends among youth and approaches to intervention. Research shows that 1 in 3 ninth graders report feelings of sadness or hopelessness, and recent data from the CDC suggest that 3 in 35 students take action on suicidal thoughts each year. Today, perhaps more than ever, youth need tools that help them cope with the stressors they experience each day and to better navigate their futures. Given the gravity of this topic, I was honored to represent StarVista as a panelist and discuss the ways that our community of partners are reaching youth and fostering resilience.
