Visitors From Korea
Happy Family Global Initiative Program: On 9/22/17, a group of eight students from the department of Family Welfare, SangMyung University in Seoul toured our offices at 10 Nottingham Place and our Family Support Center at the Chinatown YMCA. Led by Professor Geum-yong Lee, this student group was sponsored by their government's Happy Family Global Initiative Program to learn about social services agencies in USA. SF Bay Area and Los Angeles were selected because of the racial and ethnic diversities.
Pictured at the center is Alexander Nguyen, APA's Community Development Manager, who hosted this visit. Behind him is Professor Lee. On the far left is the group's translator, an international student from UC Berkeley. CLICK for photos.

Program Director, Farmmary Saephan; Behaviorial Health Program Director, Lillian Lai; and Program Coordinator, Ethan Zhang were present for the Q&A session and shared information. Assistant Employment Program Manager, Marco Cheng, gave a Powerpoint tour of the Employment Program. To add a little bit of fun after the Q&A, everybody got to ascend the spiral staircase to the executive office and take in the stunning view from the rooftop deck.

See DV "Inside Out" from an APA Perspective
October was Domestic Violence Awareness month. Taking a stand against domestic violence, we have organized an exhibit for the public to learn about the different types of DV. At the exhibit were symbolic tribute displays representing clients’ stories and their experience of domestic violence. APA's community, volunteers and staff contributed to the exhibit's SuperPower Garden of over 1,000 plus paper flowers. The exhibit was on October 28, 30-31, at APA's office at 10 Nottingham Place, San Francisco.
