July Heat Check: Fired Up for Freedom!
What an incredible turnout for our Women Veterans Day event! We had a packed house featuring a fantastic panel of WoVeN women Veterans from nearly all branches of service, spanning several eras. The vibes were vibing as we shared stories, wisdom, and connection.
We then dove into meaningful breakout room discussions centered on our Alumni Group topic of Enlistment, followed by a lively round of trivia. The event wrapped up on a high note with a special recognition ceremony honoring our WoVeN’s Got Your 6 in 2026 participants.
What a powerful initiative! This challenge brought women Veterans together in meaningful ways, sparking so many new connections across our community. One of our members reached out to and connected with an impressive 95 women Veterans - a shining example of the impact we can make when we show up for each other. As a reminder, we'll be sending specially designed t-shirts to every participant who connected with 26 women Veterans as a thank-you for their outstanding effort.
Thank you to everyone who participated and celebrated the heart of this challenge: connecting with fellow women Veterans. That’s where the real magic happens, and we’re so grateful to all who showed up and showed out.

WoVeN Research Opportunity
Join a Study with Boston University and the Women Veterans Network (WoVeN)
We invite women Veterans who are struggling with the effects of a traumatic experience to participate in a Boston University research study.
Overview
We are conducting a study to learn more about how people feel about a self-help program for posttraumatic stress. Our goal is to see how this new kind of care compares to the usual ways people get help. We want to know if using a self-help program—either on your own or with peer support—can help people feel more connected and change the way they think about their trauma. The full study can be completed from your home!
Participation in the study includes completion of the following tasks:
- Complete an eligibility assessment about your mental health through a virtual interview and survey.
-
Participate in 10 weeks of self-guided treatment (with or without peer support) or standard care.
-
Complete weekly surveys to track engagement and symptoms.
-
Complete follow-up assessments two weeks and 3 months after treatment.
-
Earn up to $325 for your time.
Call 617-435-2663 or email contact@wovenwomenvets.org for more information.
You may also complete this interest form and study staff will reach out to you

Out & About
WoVeN members continue to show up powerfully in their communities, building connections and expanding support for women Veterans across the country.
On May 28, Teresa represented WoVeN at the Veteran Resource Event at the Lincoln VA Community-based Outpatient Clinic in Nebraska. With roughly 35 resource providers on site, she engaged women Veterans by asking “When did you serve?” - a simple question that had a profound impact on the women Teresa encountered. Assuming their service and truly listening to their responses made all the difference, and we salute Teresa for her thoughtful approach!
In Florida, WoVeN State Ambassadors Clara and Tye attended the FL Department of Veteran Affairs Women Veterans Summit in Tampa, where they connected with local WoVeN members and shared great information with many attendees.
In San Antonio, Brenda, De Anna, Janice, Tee, Tyla, and Vernita hosted a WoVeN table at the annual Women Veterans recognition event. With 214 women Veterans signing in and over 50 vendor resource tables, the day was a memorable celebration of women serving women.
If you’re currently serving or have ideas for community involvement, we encourage you to register a Still Serving project in your area!
Where the Magic Happens
We are proud to highlight three incredible WoVeN groups that recently wrapped up their sessions. Each one reflects the power of connection, growth, and camaraderie that defines our community.
Heather & Diana (Their first group as Peer Leaders!) – "Group Across America"
This group came together as a truly national group - spanning the West Coast, East Coast, and one member who relocated mid-group from Arizona to Wisconsin! What a beautiful example of WoVeN's reach!
Alayna & Kelly (Their first group as Peer Leaders!) – Group 374
Nakayla & LaShawn – Alumni Group: Identity
These Peer Leaders led a powerful discussion on Identity that was described as a tremendous success. The gathering was filled with authenticity, encouragement, growth, and healing - leaving everyone uplifted and excited for future Alumni gatherings!
Thank you to all the Peer Leaders and participants for showing up, opening up, and lifting each other up! These groups are truly the heartbeat of WoVeN.

Proving We've Got Their 6
We just wrapped an incredible WoVeN’s Got Your 6 in 2026 challenge - and now it’s time for us to show our fellow Veterans that "got your six" is so much more than words.
Thanks to the powerful connections made, many newly linked women Veterans are ready to experience the full support of an 8-week group. This is where we turn connection into deeper healing, growth, and sisterhood.
If you’re a Peer Leader feeling called to lead again, we’d love for you to step up. Your guidance makes all the difference.
Need a Co-Lead? Just join us at our monthly Peer Leader Meeting or connect in the WoVeN Peer Leader Facebook Group.
Peer Leaders: Don’t see your group listed above?
Select either WoVeN or Alumni to register your group.
