December 2022

Happy Holidays

Dear AAPIPers,

The holiday season is upon us again as we busily wrap up another calendar year!  In whatever ways you will spend your time over the next several weeks, we hope that you find time for joy, rest and renewal. Stay safe and healthy through the “tripledemic” of Covid, RSV and the flu.

In the spirit of gathering with friends and family, we are excited to share the news about the CHANGE Philanthropy 2023 Unity Summit coming October 16-19, 2023! So mark your calendars and get ready for this hybrid-virtual and in-person philanthropic conference. Subscribe to CHANGE’s Summit email list below to stay tuned for the latest updates.

AAPIP will also be hosting a Membership Orientation to connect new and returning members with the work circling throughout the network and our collective movement ahead. For more information, check out our membership section at the bottom of our newsletter.

Lastly, the AAPIP team is growing and we need your help spreading the word about several job openings !  Staying close to our roots, we are looking for a California Bay Area-based Regional Coordinator who will support AAPIP’s work focused on the California philanthropic ecosystem. We are also looking for a fully-remote Vice President of Membership Programs to guide AAPIP’s member-centric program strategy and implementation and Director of Finance & Administration responsible for the organization’s overall financial management and administrative oversight. Please see the job descriptions below for more details.

AAPIP will be closed for winter break during the last week in December and we look forward to celebrating a brand new 2023 new year with you when we return!

Wishing you peace and renewal,

The AAPIP Team

Overview of the Unity Summit:

Held every other year, The Unity Summit is the signature convening for CHANGE Philanthropy and aims to highlight the integration of diversity, inclusion, and social justice into philanthropic practice, amplify equitable philanthropic practices that addresses structural and institutional change, and magnify community priorities of our partners with an intersectional approach to investing. The experience will foster networking, joy and expanding individual and institutional practice. We remain focused on advancing equity through the Summit, and to our commitment to intersectionality and placing community at the center of our efforts.

The Unity Summit is one of the largest convenings in philanthropy. Over 1000 participants from a wide variety of communities come together to expand their individual and institutional practice in order to advance equity with an intersectional lens, with community at the center of our efforts. In our most recent 2021 Summit, over 65% of attendees were BIPOC, over 20% were part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and 14% identified as having a disability. We seek to create space for all attendees to participate as thought leaders and philanthropic activists.
