WoVeN National Summit:

Celebrating the Women Who Lift WoVeN Higher!

This year’s WoVeN National Summit was small, personal, and powerful! It was truly one of those gatherings that reminds us why connection matters. We kicked off with introductions and a fun icebreaker before jumping into interactive breakout sessions led by Consultants and inspired by our WoVeN HQ Dream Team: Tara Galovski, Lauren McSweeney, and the fabulous Caroline Cooney!

During the annual event, attendees chose between sessions in Socratic Dialogue, a Best Practices Panel, or the Alumni Groups. We also took time to look ahead, such as exploring new ways to connect, upcoming initiatives, and the future of WoVeN programs.

The day wouldn't have been complete without our cherished Coin Ceremony, where we recognized Peer Leaders, Exemplars, Legacy members, and more.

And trust us - you’ll want to keep reading. The highlight of the Champion Coins is coming up in just a bit... 👀

The Lone Star Link:

Connecting Women Veterans Across Texas

Janice (U.S. Air Force) and Danielle (U.S. Army) are stepping into their roles as Texas State Ambassadors with a shared passion for strengthening connections among women Veterans. Janice says becoming an Ambassador gives her “an opportunity to keep serving the women Veterans community by connecting with other women Veterans to share my experiences and knowledge.” Danielle adds that she “truly come[s] to believe in the WoVeN mission,” especially its focus on giving “hope and sisterhood back to so many wonderful women.”

Both are focused on expanding WoVeN across Texas. Janice hopes to bring “WoVeN forefront to the State and the Community,” while Danielle looks forward to “increasing WoVeN’s presence throughout the state of Texas.”

Their impact plans center on outreach and community. Janice aims to build a statewide sisterhood “by connecting with current WoVeN women, participating in community events, and getting as many women Veterans involved in WoVeN Still Serving.” Danielle plans to support local women Veterans through outreach, “meeting socially,” and collaborating with groups like Veterans at Breakfast and Wounded Warrior.

To reach more women, Janice partners with local VSOs and providers, adding that “the second favorite resource is ME,” using her own transition story to remind others “that they aren’t alone.” Danielle keeps things accessible by “holding zoom meeting and socializing events.”

Janice and Danielle, thank you for ensuring women Veterans across Texas stay supported, connected, and part of a growing WoVeN sisterhood!

Presenting Our 2025 WoVeN Champions!

During this year's WoVeN National Summit, our Director, Tara Galovski, had the honor of presenting our 2025 WoVeN Champion Coins to our three recipients: Loretta Gulley, Mia Williams, and Alyssa Vasquez. As part of this meaningful portion of the celebration, she shared heartfelt words for each awardee. We felt that her words perfectly capture the dedication, courage, and spirit of these incredible Veterans, and we'd like to share those words here:

Cruising in Style!

How rad does our WoVeN Peer Leader, Melissa Taulbee, look in this photo? Come on - you’ve got a gorgeous sunset in the background as she flashes that awesome smile… on her first (post-Navy) cruise, by the way! And to top it off, she’s rocking some sweet WoVeN swag!

Melissa entered our quarterly WoVeN raffle and was selected to receive a prize! This raffle is our small way of showing appreciation for your time. So whether you’re attending a group, a monthly meeting, or a national event, make sure you enter the raffle (and yes - you get a separate entry for every event you attend!). Links or QR code for the raffle will be provided at or after the events.

But seriously - how awesome is this photo?!

Amazing What 8 Weeks Can Do!

We’re proud to celebrate the Veterans of Groups 353, 358, and 362, who just completed the 8th and final week of their groups! Under the thoughtful guidance of Linda, Natatera, Shelia, Svetlana, Tanisha A., and Valerie, these incredible women have created lasting bonds and are now part of a sisterhood that is WoVeN together, far beyond the Week 8 celebration.

Please help us welcome our sisters! And if you see them on a call, don’t be a stranger!

Congratulations, Veterans! WOOHOO! 🎉

Help us celebrate the outstanding contributions made by Brenda Massey, Janice Maupin, and Vernita Sneed! These Veterans partnered with Camp Shield for the Harvesting Connections Fall Fest & Resources event on November 1 at the DoSeum. Together, they helped build safe spaces, strengthen WoVeN’s footprint, and provide valuable resource information to local Women Veterans.
